Punjab-Haryana High Court Lacks Halls for Sanctioned Judges
The Punjab and Haryana High Court is supposed to have 85 judges, but it only has 69 court halls and 64 places for judges to live.
The Union Ministry of Law and Justice told the Parliament that this is a big problem.
They also said that the city of Chandigarh has not gotten any money from a national program that helps build court buildings.
No request for more money was sent by the local government.
Because of this, judges may not have enough space to work and live.
Punjab and Haryana High Court has 69 court halls but needs 85 for sanctioned judges.
The court also has only 64 residential units, below the sanctioned 85.
Union Ministry of Law and Justice reported the infrastructure gap in Lok Sabha.
Chandigarh has received no Centrally Sponsored Scheme funding for judiciary infrastructure in five years.
No proposal for augmentation was submitted by the Union Territory Administration.
