Collector Inspects Flood Damage, Relief Measures Underway
A big water tank called Rayala Cheruvu had a problem with its wall, which is called a bund.
On Friday, the main official, the Collector, went to see why it broke.
The bund broke because the soil at the bottom was not strong enough.
This caused a lot of water to flood nearby villages, like Kalathuru.
The water damaged homes, cars, and crops, and sadly, some farm animals like cows and sheep were washed away.
The Collector and other helpers are working quickly to clean up, set up places for people to stay with food and water, and figure out how much everything is damaged.
They are also giving money to families to help them clean their houses and replace lost animals and belongings.
The government promises to help rebuild houses and will keep providing food and water until things are back to normal.
District Collector Dr S Venkateswar inspected the breached Rayala Cheruvu bund in KVB Puram mandal following heavy flooding.
Preliminary findings suggest the bund failed due to weak soil at its base.
The flood inundated downstream villages, causing damage to houses, vehicles, crops, and resulted in the loss of livestock.
Relief and sanitation works have commenced on a war footing, including setting up relief centers and conducting damage assessments.
The government has announced compensation for damaged property, livestock, and essential supplies, alongside plans for new houses and plots.
