New Town Plant Lover Turns Limited Space Into Lush Garden
Avra Paul loves growing plants at his home in New Town.
His veranda is small, but he uses pots, hanging planters and a vertical garden.
He even extended the railing to make more room for plants.
He started building his garden after moving there in 2018.
Paul grows flowers, fruit plants, herbs and plants used in cooking.
He says working with soil helps him feel less stressed.
Some plants are difficult to grow, while others grow too quickly.
His strawberries needed straw underneath them so the fruit would not touch the ground.
Avra Paul has filled his New Town veranda with floor pots, hanging planters and a vertical garden.
He extended his railing to add two more rows of pots and plans further space for plants.
Paul grows ornamental, fruit, medicinal and kitchen-garden plants, including hibiscus, orchids, rosemary and basil.
He says working with soil helps reduce stress and devotes his weekends to caring for plants.
His strawberry plants produced delicious fruit after he placed straw beneath them to protect the berries.
