Police Prepare Sensitive Areas for Upcoming Local Body Polls
Police are getting ready for local elections in six districts.
The police chief said preparations should be finished before the election notice is issued.
Officers will identify villages and polling places where trouble may be more likely.
They will check those places and take steps to prevent violence.
Police will also watch for illegal weapons, liquor and cash being moved around.
Extra security will be ready for polling, ballot boxes and vote counting.
Officials will work together with election and local government staff.
Police will also look for false or inflammatory messages online.
The goal is to help voting happen peacefully and fairly.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta directed police to complete election preparations before the notification is issued.
Officials reviewed arrangements across Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Markapuram and Nellore districts.
Police will classify polling stations by sensitivity and inspect areas with a history of election-related clashes.
Preventive measures include surveillance of suspected troublemakers, stronger checkposts and action against illicit liquor and illegal cash transport.
Officials were told to prepare security forces, protect ballot boxes and counting facilities, and monitor misinformation online.
