Houston Telugu Vennela Revisits Ramayana’s Timeless Lessons
Telugu-speaking people in Houston held their 172nd monthly literary meeting.
The meeting was called Telugu Vennela and took place on August 22.
A speaker talked about interesting parts of the Valmiki Ramayana that many people may not know.
The talk explained that the epic teaches lessons about doing one’s duty, leading fairly and understanding people.
It also said that some popular details, such as the Lakshmana Rekha, are not found in Valmiki’s version.
The story of Ahalya was discussed as a period of penance rather than being turned into stone.
Other speakers recited poetry and shared their own ideas.
The gathering became a friendly group lesson about why the Ramayana still matters today.
The 172nd monthly Telugu Vennela was held on August 22 at a Sugar Land residence.
The speaker examined lesser-known aspects of Valmiki’s Ramayana and its lessons on duty, leadership and human nature.
The discussion challenged popular assumptions, including the idea that Ahalya became a stone and that the Valmiki text includes the Lakshmana Rekha.
Participants explored governance, geography, diplomacy, friendship and military strategy through episodes from the epic.
Chilukuri Satyadev, Palaparthi Indrani and other guests contributed performances and insights to the literary gathering.
