NHAI Issues Termination Notice to RSIL
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sent a warning to a company called RSIL for not building a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway fast enough.
This part is 35 kilometers long, and RSIL has only done a tiny bit of the work.
NHAI says RSIL has had many chances to catch up but hasn't.
If RSIL doesn't fix this in 15 days, NHAI might cancel their contract.
This could make the whole project finish much later than planned, maybe even after March 2028.
Other parts of the project are also behind schedule, with progress at 23% and 36% respectively.
NHAI has given RSIL many chances, but they still haven't met the targets.
This is causing problems for the public.
NHAI issued an 'intention to termination notice' to RSIL for slow progress on a 35-km stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
RSIL has completed only 4.9% of the physical work and 4.6% of the planned spending.
NHAI had previously terminated and then re-awarded contracts to RSIL for two other stretches in Gujarat.
The original timeline for the project was 18 months starting August 31, 2024, but progress is at only 4.59% after 16 months.
NHAI has given RSIL 15 days to respond before potentially terminating the contract.
