Indian Army Amends Social Media Policy
The Indian Army has changed its rules about using social media.
Before, they told all soldiers to delete their Facebook and Instagram accounts and not use 89 apps, including 59 from China.
This was to stop bad people from getting secret information.
A court said this was okay.
Now, the Army has made it a bit easier, allowing soldiers to just look at social media without posting anything.
They still have to be careful.
Indian Army amended its social media policy to allow passive participation.
Original 2020 policy banned Facebook, Instagram, and 89 apps, including 59 Chinese apps.
Ban was to prevent security breaches and data leaks by impersonators and honey-trapping.
Delhi High Court upheld the ban, citing potential security risks.
MoD had recommended against a ban in 2015, but the Army implemented it in 2020.
