Tamil Nadu Govt Hikes Dearness Allowance by 3% for Employees, Teachers
Imagine your parents work for the government in Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister, M. K. Stalin, said they will get a little bit more money each month, called 'dearness allowance.'
This is like a small bonus to help with the cost of things.
The allowance is going up by 3%, making it 58% of their regular salary.
This raise starts from the beginning of July.
While this is good news for the workers, the government has to spend an extra 1,829 crore rupees every year to pay for it.
It's like getting a bit more allowance, but the family's overall spending goes up a little too.
Tamil Nadu CM M. K. Stalin announced a 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike.
The DA increase is for state government employees, teachers, and pensioners.
The hike is effective from July 1.
The DA has increased from 55% to 58%.
This will result in an additional annual expenditure of Rs 1,829 crore for the state government.
