West Bengal Police Arrest Terrorist Suspects Across Multiple Districts
The West Bengal Police Special Task Force, with help from other agencies, caught several people who were thought to be working for dangerous terrorist groups.
They arrested Hamim Mondal in Purba Bardhaman, who was linked to the group Jaish‑e‑Mohammed and might have tried to sneak into the Chief Minister’s guard.
In May 2025, Ajmol Hossain was taken in Birbhum for ties to Jamaat‑ul‑Mujahideen Bangladesh.
Saheb Ali Khan was also arrested in Birbhum for the same group.
These arrests come after a blast in 2011 that revealed a sleeper cell, so the police are keeping a close eye on the area.
West Bengal Police Special Task Force and central agencies arrested suspects linked to JMB, ABT, JeM, and LeT across Purba Bardhaman, Birbhum, Malda, Murshidabad, and Kolkata.
Hamim Mondal (Hamid Mondal) was detained in Purba Bardhaman for alleged ties to JeM and a possible plan to infiltrate CM Suvendu Adhikari’s security detail.
Ajmol Hossain was arrested in May 2025 in Nalhati, Birbhum, for alleged links to Jamaat‑ul‑Mujahideen Bangladesh.
Saheb Ali Khan was taken in Murarai, Birbhum, for alleged association with Jamaat‑ul‑Mujahideen Bangladesh.
The arrests follow a 12‑year‑old blast in Khagragarh, Bardhaman, that exposed a JMB sleeper cell, prompting heightened security alerts.
