BJP Dominates Maharashtra Civic Polls
In the recent Maharashtra civic elections, the BJP and their ally Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, won a big victory.
They took control of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is the richest city council in India, after 25 years of Thackeray family rule.
The BJP also won in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, where the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, lost many seats.
Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, who lead the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), respectively, said they would keep fighting for the rights of Marathi people.
They believe the BJP won by cheating and using too much money.
The BJP says their win shows that people support their plans for development.
The elections were important because they showed how people in Maharashtra feel about different political parties and their ideas.
BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) won a majority in the BMC, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad civic polls.
Ajit Pawar's NCP and its ally NCP (SP) suffered significant losses in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray vowed to continue their fight for Marathi identity and rights.
The BJP's victory was seen as a rejection of the Thackerays' Marathi identity politics and a support for the BJP's development agenda.
The elections were marked by allegations of betrayal and misuse of power by the BJP, according to the opposition.
