GJM Meets West Bengal CM for Darjeeling Hills Solution
Bimal Gurung and Roshan Giri from the GJM party met with West Bengal’s chief minister, Suvendu Adhikari, in Kolkata.
They talked about fixing problems in the Darjeeling hills, like closed tea gardens and bad roads.
They also asked the government to look into money misuse in the GTA.
The chief minister said he would visit the hills soon to check on these issues.
This meeting is the biggest talk between the state government and the GJM since the last elections.
GJM leaders Bimal Gurung and Roshan Giri met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata to discuss a permanent political solution for the Darjeeling hills.
The meeting focused on a tripartite dialogue involving the Centre, the state government, and hill representatives, covering tea gardens, teacher recruitment, transport, and GTA corruption.
GJM demanded an impartial probe into alleged financial irregularities in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and the reopening of official GTA files.
The CM agreed to examine the raised issues and scheduled a visit to Darjeeling to review transport and tea garden conditions.
The meeting marked the most substantive engagement between the BJP‑led state government and GJM since the 2021 assembly elections, following GJM’s support for BJP.
