HYDRAA Begins Major Drain Desilting in Fatehnagar-Balanagar
HYDRAA has started removing mud and rubbish from a stormwater drain in the Fatehnagar-Balanagar area.
The cleaning covers nearly three kilometres.
Workers are using excavators to clear the drain along its length because cleaning only near bridges would not be enough.
Officials say years of buildup and encroachments have made parts of the channel narrower.
The channel was planned to be about 25 metres wide at its start and nearly 40 metres wide in parts of Fatehnagar.
