AAP seeks more transparency and consumer choice in E20 rollout

AAP seeks more transparency and consumer choice in E20 rollout

The government is rolling out a new car fuel called E20, which is petrol mixed with ethanol — a fuel made from plants.

E20 has 20% ethanol blended into the petrol.

The government wants to use more ethanol so the country depends less on fuel from other countries and pollutes less.

The Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, says people should know more about this fuel before everyone has to use it.

They say some experts were worried that E20 might not be good for car engines.

They want those expert reports to be shared with the public.

They also think drivers should be allowed to pick between E20 and regular petrol.

The party wants car makers and experts to discuss the fuel more before it spreads further.

The government says the new fuel will be rolled out step by step and that car makers are getting ready for it.

Both sides agree that people deserve clear information about the fuel they put in their cars.
