Plain-Area Tribals Seek Political Quotas in Delimitation

Plain-Area Tribals Seek Political Quotas in Delimitation

Tribal representatives want fair chances for their communities to win elected positions.

They are especially concerned about tribal people who live in plain areas.

They said these communities may not receive enough representation if the whole State is treated as one unit.

Instead, they want each district to be considered separately.

This could help districts with tribal populations receive representation based on their numbers.

The demand was discussed at a meeting in Jaggayyapeta.

Shankar Nayak spoke in support of the proposal.

The meeting adopted these demands for consideration during delimitation.
