CIDCO Issues Tenders for Mumbai Metro Line 8
CIDCO is starting a project to build a new train line, Metro Line 8, to connect the two main airports near Mumbai.
They have issued requests for companies to help them plan it.
The goal is to make the trip between the airports much faster, about 30 minutes instead of nearly two hours.
The project will cost a lot of money and involve both public and private companies working together.
The trains will run partly underground and partly above ground, going through busy areas.
This plan was approved by the government and will take about six years to build.
CIDCO issued tenders for consultants to reassess Mumbai Metro Line 8.
The metro line will connect CSMIA and NMIA, reducing travel time to 30 minutes.
The project will be executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Metro Line 8 is approximately 35 km long and estimated to cost Rs 15,000 crore.
Construction is expected to take at least six years.
