Excise Constable Sentenced for Assaulting Woman Sub-Inspector
Once upon a time, a police officer named Manoj hurt a female police officer.
This happened back in 2013.
A judge looked at all the evidence, which included what the injured officer and witnesses said, and decided Manoj was guilty of hurting the other officer.
The judge sent Manoj to jail for five years and also made him pay a fine.
However, the judge did not think there was enough proof to say Manoj tried to kill or inappropriately touched the officer.
So, even though he went to jail, he wasn't found guilty of everything he was accused of.
An excise constable was sentenced to five years in prison for assaulting a woman sub-inspector.
The assault occurred in 2013 at the SI's rented accommodation in Jagatsinghpur.
The constable, Manoj Kumar Parida, was found guilty of grievously hurting the SI.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, with an extension of the sentence if unpaid.
Parida was acquitted of charges of attempted murder and outraging modesty due to a lack of evidence.
