OHPC Signs Pact for Upper Indravati Project Management
Imagine a giant water park for electricity!
OHPC is building a project to store energy.
They've hired a company called WAPCOS to help manage it.
This project uses extra electricity during the night to pump water uphill.
Then, during the day when everyone needs power, the water flows back down, creating electricity.
This helps keep the power stable and reliable.
It's a step toward India's plan to use more clean energy, like the sun and wind, instead of fuels that pollute.
OHPC signed a project management consultancy agreement with WAPCOS for the 600 MW Upper Indravati pumped storage project.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo.
The project will utilize surplus grid power to pump water to an upper reservoir during off-peak hours.
Stored water will be released during peak demand periods.
The project supports India's goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030.
