Maharashtra MLA Seeks Extension Over Electoral Roll Discrepancies
Rais Shaikh is a lawmaker from Maharashtra.
He says some people who should be allowed to vote are missing from the draft voter lists.
Some voters reportedly submitted forms and documents but have not seen their names added.
He also says some applications are still waiting with election officials.
According to Shaikh, some people were not told about problems with their records.
He says the election website and mobile app have also had technical issues.
He wants the deadline extended by two months.
He also wants people with acknowledgment receipts to be added and an offline way to apply.
Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh requested a two-month extension beyond the September 30 deadline for Maharashtra’s Special Intensive Revision.
Shaikh alleged that many eligible voters were missing from draft electoral rolls despite submitting applications, documents and acknowledgment receipts.
He said pending Form 6 and Form 8 applications remained with Booth Level Officers.
Shaikh alleged that voters affected by discrepancies or “no linkage” had not received notices, SMS messages or calls.
He cited website and mobile-app problems and called for offline applications, prompt processing and inclusion of voters with SIR receipts.
