Premier Energies Expands with 400 MW Solar Facility
Premier Energies, a company that makes solar energy products, has opened a new factory in Telangana, India.
This factory can make solar cells that produce 400 megawatts of power.
The company is spending a lot of money, about ₹11,000 crore, to make this and other factories bigger.
Right now, they can make 3.6 gigawatts of solar cells and 5.1 gigawatts of solar modules.
They want to increase this to 10.6 gigawatts for cells and 11.1 gigawatts for modules by 2028.
They got some of the money from selling shares in their company and borrowing from a government agency.
They also want to start making the parts that go into solar cells, like ingots and wafers, to have more control over their production.
Premier Energies has commissioned a 400 MW solar cell manufacturing facility in Telangana as part of its ₹11,000 crore expansion plan.
The company aims to more than double its annual solar cell and module manufacturing capacities to 10.6 GW and 11.1 GW, respectively, by 2028.
Current solar cell manufacturing capacity has increased from 3.2 GW to 3.6 GW with the new facility.
The expansion is funded by ₹1,300 crore from an IPO, ₹2,200 crore in debt from IREDA, and internal accruals.
Premier Energies plans to enter the ingots and wafers space to become a leading integrated renewable energy equipment manufacturer outside of China.
