Forensic Report Delay Holds Up Amruta Fadnavis Extortion Trial
A court is waiting for a scientific report before it can begin the next stage of a criminal case.
The report is about electronic devices taken from people accused of blackmailing Amruta Fadnavis.
Police say Aniksha first met Amruta while posing as a fashion designer.
They allege that Aniksha and her father, Anil Jaisinghani, offered a bribe and later demanded money.
The accused deny no specific allegations in the articles, but they are currently out on bail.
The court has asked the forensic laboratory several times to examine the devices.
The laboratory said it had a large backlog and not enough staff for the work.
Because the report has not arrived, the court has postponed framing charges.
The case is now scheduled for a later hearing in October.
A Mumbai special court again deferred framing of charges because the FSL report on seized electronic devices remains pending.
The case involves alleged bookie Anil Jaisinghani and his daughter Aniksha, who are accused of attempting to extort Amruta Fadnavis.
Police filed the chargesheet in 2023, saying the forensic report would be submitted later.
The court issued repeated reminders, summoned the Kalina laboratory director in January 2025, and later ordered priority analysis.
The seized material includes phones, tablets, SIM cards, storage devices, a router and other electronics; the accused are out on bail.
