India-US Trade Talks Progress Amid Tariff Disputes
The US and India are having important talks about trade.
The US has put high taxes (50%) on some Indian goods, which has made it harder for Indian companies to sell things to America.
The US says India is making good offers, but there are still some things they disagree on, like certain foods.
India doesn't want to change its rules about some farm products.
Both countries want to make a deal to help their businesses and make trade easier.
The US is also looking for new places to sell its farm products.
The talks are happening now, and both sides are hoping to make progress soon.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer praised India's offers in bilateral trade talks as the 'best ever received' by the US.
India and the US are negotiating a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) to address tariff issues and boost trade.
The US has imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, hurting Indian exports to the US, which declined by 8.58% in October 2025.
India is firm on not compromising its agricultural and dairy sectors' interests in the trade talks.
Both countries aim to finalize the first phase of the BTA, with India seeking a rollback of the 50% tariff.
