Meghalaya Inaugurates CIAT School and Police Welfare Complex
The Meghalaya Government opened a new school for counter-insurgency training and a complex for police welfare in Baghmara, South Garo Hills.
This area was once very poor and is near Bangladesh.
The school will help train police in tough conditions like forests and bad weather.
The complex has places for police to live, eat, and train, though some parts are still being built.
The idea for this project came from a police officer named Davis NR Marak.
The leaders of Meghalaya hope this will help the area grow and get more attention.
Meghalaya Government inaugurated the CIAT School and Integrated Police Welfare Complex in Baghmara, South Garo Hills.
The district was previously one of the most impoverished in the country and has a 122-km border with Bangladesh.
The complex includes a hospital, dispensary, officers’ mess, JCOs’ mess, police welfare training centre, sports complex, and recreational centre.
Some facilities, like the dispensary and sports complex, are still under construction.
The CIAT School is designed for advanced counter-insurgency training due to the area's dense forests and challenging terrain.
