Historian's Bhopal Lit Fest Session Cancelled
A historian named Aabhas Maldahiyar was supposed to talk about his new book at a big book festival in Bhopal.
But his talk was cancelled because a newspaper called Swadesh said he was praising a historical figure named Babur, which he denies.
He says the newspaper got it wrong and that he actually criticizes Babur in his book.
He also says he got threats from some groups.
He's upset because he thinks the people who cancelled his talk didn't even read his book.
He wrote to the Prime Minister to ask for help so that historians can share their work without being stopped.
Historian Aabhas Maldahiyar's session at Bhopal Lit Fest 2026 was cancelled.
The cancellation followed false accusations from the newspaper Swadesh that he glorified Babur in his book.
Maldahiyar claims his book is critical of Babur and has been criticized by leftist sections for this.
He received threats from certain organizations, including calls to vandalize bookstores and burn his book.
Maldahiyar has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for intervention.
