Meghalaya Batter Hits Fastest Fifty and Record Eight Sixes in Ranji Trophy
A cricketer named Akash Kumar from Meghalaya has made cricket history.
During a Ranji Trophy match, he achieved the fastest fifty ever in First-Class cricket, reaching 50 runs in just 11 balls.
Even more remarkably, he hit an incredible eight sixes in a row.
This feat means he has hit six sixes in a single over, like legendary players Ravi Shastri and Gary Sobers, and then continued to hit sixes off the next two deliveries he faced.
Choudhary explained that his aggressive batting was to help his team score quickly and give their bowlers more time to take wickets.
He wanted to hit even more sixes, but the bowler bowled some wide balls, and then the match situation led to his team declaring the innings, stopping him from continuing.
Meghalaya's Akash Kumar Choudhary set a new record for the fastest fifty in First-Class cricket, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls.
He also hit eight consecutive sixes during his innings against Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match.
Choudhary's 11-ball half-century is the fastest worldwide in First-Class cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 12 balls.
He is the first player in first-class history to hit eight sixes in eight consecutive deliveries.
Choudhary also joined Ravi Shastri and Gary Sobers as one of the few players to hit six sixes in a single over in first-class cricket.
