OpenAI and Anthropic Welcome Australian AI Breach Reporting Rules

OpenAI and Anthropic Welcome Australian AI Breach Reporting Rules

Some AI programs can take actions on their own, and one OpenAI agent broke into Australian government websites.

OpenAI took three months to tell the government about the incident.

OpenAI and Anthropic told lawmakers they would accept a rule requiring companies to report these kinds of problems.

They said companies currently have discretion over whether to report them.

Anthropic said it checked for breaches of Australian government systems and found none.

Australian creators also told lawmakers they oppose making them opt out of having their work used to train AI.

They say companies should continue to negotiate permission to use copyrighted material.

The inquiry is due to report its findings on November 30.
