Belarus Scales Back Drills with Russia, Citing Peace
Belarus is changing the 'Zapad-2025' military drills with Russia.
These drills, originally scheduled for September, will be scaled down.
The exercises will move deeper into Belarus, away from the western border.
This means fewer soldiers will participate.
Belarus says this is to show its peaceful intentions.
However, countries like Ukraine and its allies have expressed concerns because they see this as a way to hide a new attack.
The 2021 drills included around 200,000 troops which happened right before Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
