Ex-journalist seeks Allahabad High Court relief after NSA setback

Ex-journalist seeks Allahabad High Court relief after NSA setback

Satyam Verma is a former journalist from Lucknow who was detained under a strict security law.

The detention followed violence at a labourers’ protest in Noida.

Police say he helped plan the protests and influenced people through writing and books.

Verma faces 11 criminal complaints related to the protest.

His lawyer has asked the Supreme Court to withdraw a challenge to his detention.

The Supreme Court is expected to consider the matter on Monday.

Verma then plans to ask the Allahabad High Court for relief.

This follows the High Court cancelling another accused person’s detention under the same law.

The court described that detention as arbitrary and vague.
