Sarvesh Kushare wins silver in men's high jump at Commonwealth Games

Sarvesh Kushare from India won the silver medal in the men's high jump at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.

He cleared a height of 2.25m, setting a new national record of 2.31m earlier.

Romaine Beckford from Jamaica won gold with the same height but fewer misses.

Jack Kimani from Scotland took bronze with a clearance of 2.20m.

Sarvesh's performance was impressive, especially after a nervy battle at 2.25m.

Tejaswin Shankar, who won bronze in the previous Commonwealth Games, withdrew due to a knee issue.

India had two other representatives in the event, with Aadarsh Ram finishing fifth.

Sarvesh's silver adds to India's success in athletics at the Games.
