Sebi Keeps CAS Unchanged, Nears Approval of NSE IPO

India’s market regulator has decided to keep a new trading rule called CAS unchanged for now.

CAS collects buying and selling orders and matches them in an auction near the end of the trading day.

The regulator introduced it to make markets more transparent and harder to manipulate.

Some market participants have raised concerns about how the new system works.

The regulator says it can detect manipulation better under CAS than under the older system.

Sebi is also close to deciding whether to approve the National Stock Exchange’s plan to sell shares to the public.

The regulator has not yet received a proposal about letting NSE shares trade on NSE’s own platform.

Its chairman also said regulators must prepare for risks that can spread across many financial institutions, including risks created by technology and AI.
