German Chancellor's Visit Sparks Political Controversy in Karnataka
The German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, visited Bengaluru, India, on January 13, 2024.
He saw a special hydrogen-powered truck and a system called AIShield that makes artificial intelligence more secure.
However, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka were not there to welcome him.
Instead, they were in Mysuru to welcome another political leader.
This made the opposition party, BJP, very upset.
They said the Congress leaders showed a 'deep disregard for the state’s interests' by not prioritizing the Chancellor's visit.
The BJP believes that the visit was important for investment, industry, and jobs in Karnataka, but the Congress leaders chose to focus on internal politics instead.
