GJM Holds All‑Party Meeting to Push Gorkhaland Demand
Bimal Gurung, the leader of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, met with many people in Darjeeling to talk about a new state called Gorkhaland.
He wants everyone to agree on a plan before talking to the national and state governments.
The meeting followed a talk with the Home Minister, who said they should talk with all parties first.
Gurung also wants a fair investigation into money problems in the local administration.
The GJM leaders will write a common agenda and meet again soon.
GJM president Bimal Gurung convened an all‑party meeting in Darjeeling to build a common platform on the Gorkhaland demand and other hill issues.
The meeting followed a February 12 meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who urged consultations before advancing a Permanent Political Solution.
GJM leaders plan to draft a unified agenda and hold a second round of talks, hoping all five Gorkha MLAs and the Darjeeling MP will join.
GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said Shah had said Gorkhaland was "not possible at this stage" but suggested a Bodoland‑style arrangement.
Gurung called for an impartial investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.
