Indian Taxpayers Shift to Multi-Source Income
In 2025, more people in India are making money from different sources, not just their salaries.
This includes business, trading, and investments.
The number of people earning over Rs 30 lakh per year has increased.
Most of these high earners are between 40 and 50 years old.
Young people and millennials are leading this change by investing early and having multiple sources of income.
However, crypto investments are still considered risky and not very common.
The share of salaried taxpayers earning over Rs 30 lakh annually increased from 18.49% in 2024 to 23.34% in 2025.
Nearly 38% of salaried taxpayers aged 40–50 earn more than Rs 30 lakh annually, making them the strongest earning segment.
More people are diversifying their income sources, with a rise in ITR-3 and ITR-2 filings indicating earnings from business, trading, and investments.
Young Indians and millennials are driving this shift, with increased tax filings and reported capital gains from investments.
Crypto assets are considered high-risk and not yet mainstream.
