Govt. Appoints Members to Fully Functional GST Appellate Tribunal
The government is working to get the Goods and Services Tax (GST) court up and running.
They've picked judges and experts to help solve tax disagreements.
A main judge was chosen in May 2024, and now they've appointed more members.
These courts will make it easier to sort out tax issues, which currently take a long time to resolve in other courts.
Several states are also setting up their own local GST courts.
Government is making the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) fully functional.
Justice (retd) Sanjaya Kumar Mishra was appointed President of the Principal Bench in May 2024.
Mayank Kumar Jain, A Venu Prasad, and Anil Kumar Gupta were appointed as judicial and technical members.
31 state benches of GSTAT have been notified.
Disputes currently go to high courts or the Supreme Court due to the absence of a functioning GSTAT.
