India's 2027 Digital Census to Cost Rs 14,600 Crore
Imagine India is planning a big count of all its people, called a census, in 2027.
They want to use apps and smartphones to make it easier and faster.
The government has asked for a lot of money, about 146 billion rupees, to pay for it.
This is because they have to pay many people to go around and collect the information.
Some people think it might cost more than the earlier ones.
Over 60 countries did their census during the COVID-19 pandemic, including China.
The RGI requested Rs 14,600 crore for the 2027 Census.
The census will utilize apps and smartphones.
3.4 million enumerators will collect data.
The cost may be higher due to digital technology.
Actual spending declined since FY21.
