Meghalaya Launches Water Harvesting Project for Water Security
Imagine a big plan to save water in Meghalaya!
The government is starting a new project, with help from a big bank, to collect and store water.
They want to build places to hold rainwater and help farmers use the water wisely.
This project will also help farmers with better irrigation and help monitor the climate using special weather stations.
This project is like a part of the bigger plan of the Meghalaya State Water Policy which helps with water resources management.
Meghalaya CM launched a water harvesting project in North Garo Hills.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank, totaling $62.5 million.
It aims to create 10 million cubic meters of water storage and protect catchment areas.
The project includes establishing weather stations and micro-irrigation systems.
It aligns with the Meghalaya State Water Policy for sustainable water resource management.
