Injured Gymnast Protistha Misses Commonwealth Medal

Protistha Samanta, a young gymnast from Howrah, West Bengal, competed in the women's vault final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

She finished seventh with an average score of 12.883.

Protistha had a tough journey because she injured her knee last year and had to rest for eight months.

Despite her injury, she tried her best and competed with a strapped knee.

Her father said she was sad she couldn't win a medal.

Her mother supported her a lot by moving to Tripura so Protistha could train there.

Her coach, Bishweshwar Nandi, gave her advice before the final.

Protistha started gymnastics when she was three and has worked very hard to reach this level.
