Government Says YISU Will Strengthen, Not Privatise Polytechnics

Government Says YISU Will Strengthen, Not Privatise Polytechnics

The government wants government polytechnic colleges to work with Young India Skills University, or YISU.

It says this does not mean the colleges will be sold to private owners.

The land, buildings, laboratories, and other assets will remain controlled by the government.

Teachers and other employees will remain government workers.

Their salaries, promotions, transfers, and service rules are expected to stay protected.

Student fees and support programs will also continue under government rules.

The government says the colleges will be upgraded to teach skills needed in today’s job market.

It also says students will still be able to use ECET to enter the second year of engineering.
