Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Toll to Be Halved
The government has decided to cut toll fees by half on certain highways in India.
These are roads that are currently two lanes wide but are being expanded to four lanes.
Right now, people pay about 60% of the usual toll on these roads.
But soon, they will only pay 30% of the usual toll while the roads are being built.
This is because the roads might not be as smooth or easy to drive on while they are being fixed.
The finance ministry has approved this plan to make it easier for people to travel during the construction.
The finance ministry has approved a proposal to halve toll rates on two-lane highways being widened to four lanes.
Current toll rates are about 60% of the normal national highway toll on these stretches.
The new toll rates will be reduced to 30% during the construction period.
The reduction reflects the reduced quality of service available to commuters during construction.
The approval aims to make travel easier and more affordable for motorists during the construction phase.
