Telangana HC Questions Delay in Teacher Postings Under Sport Quota
A national athlete named Kethavath Hari Krishna filed a petition in the Telangana High Court because the government is taking too long to fill teacher jobs reserved for sportspeople.
The court was surprised that no teachers were hired in 2024 under this quota, even though they had been told to do so before.
The athlete said he applied for a job as a Telugu teacher in Ranga Reddy district but hasn't gotten a response.
He thinks the delay is unfair and makes the government look bad.
The court asked the government to explain why they haven't hired anyone yet and told them to submit their response by the next hearing in January.
The athlete said many people who trained for years are now feeling helpless because of the delay.
The Telangana High Court questioned the state government's delay in recruiting teachers under the sports quota for 2024.
Petitioner Kethavath Hari Krishna, a national athlete, applied for an SGT Telugu post under the 2% sports quota but received no response.
The court noted the government's admission that the 2024 DSC sports quota recruitments remain incomplete and directed officials to file counter-affidavits by January 22, 2025.
The petitioner alleged that the delay is illegal, arbitrary, and biased, causing distress among aspiring candidates.
The court highlighted that the school education department has not filed its response despite earlier instructions, leaving several aspects of the matter unanswered.
