Indian Oil Posts Q1 Loss, Raises $500M Swap Facility
Indian Oil Corporation, a big oil company in India, said it lost money in its first quarter of the 2027 financial year.
The loss happened because it sold fuel for less than the market price, but it made some extra money from refining oil.
The company also got a $500 million loan from the Reserve Bank of India to help it borrow money in dollars.
The Indian government agreed to pay the company a large amount of money to cover losses from selling LPG gas.
Even though the company lost money, it still made a lot of sales and had a big amount of money coming in and out of its accounts.
State‑run Indian Oil Corporation reported a net loss of ₹1,141 crore in Q1 FY27.
Loss driven by selling petrol, diesel and LPG below market prices, offset by higher refining margin.
Total income rose to ₹2.82 lakh crore, while expenses increased to ₹2.84 lakh crore.
IOCL raised $500 million under RBI’s concessional dollar‑rupee swap window for external commercial borrowings.
Government approved ₹14,486 crore compensation for under‑recoveries on domestic LPG sales.
