Centre Officially Standardises 28 Geographic Locations Across Ladakh

The Indian government has given official names to 28 places in Ladakh.

These places include tall mountains, mountain passes, glaciers, valleys, rivers, lakes, and hot springs.

Some of the newly named places are Atisha Giri Peak, Zorawar Peak, Chapchingal Pass, and Parpik Glacier.

The updated map can be viewed on the Survey of India website.

The decision came after China repeatedly announced its own names for places in Indian territory.

China calls Arunachal Pradesh “Zangnan,” or South Tibet.

India says changing names on a map does not change which country the land belongs to.

The new Indian map is presented as a response to those naming efforts.
