Turkey Says New Defence Pact Does Not Conflict with NATO

Turkey Says New Defence Pact Does Not Conflict with NATO

Turkey made a new defence agreement with two other countries, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

A defence agreement is a promise that countries make to help protect each other.

Turkey is also a member of NATO, a big group of countries that work together for safety.

Some people worried that the new agreement would go against the promises Turkey made to NATO.

Turkey said those worries are not true.

Turkey explained that the new agreement is extra help for keeping the region safe.

It is not a replacement for its NATO membership.

The three countries signed the agreement in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

They signed it while there was violence happening in the region.

Turkey also said the angry posts about the agreement were not based on facts.
