Gurgaon waterlogged yet again; contractor lapses, dewatering delay blamed

It rained very heavily in a city called Gurgaon for two days in a row.

The streets filled up with water, and cars and people got stuck in traffic.

Many people were upset because the work to fix the drains was not finished.

Some workers also left dangerous open holes near the roads, hidden by the rainwater.

The person in charge of the city, Pradeep Dahiya, was brought back to his old job to help solve the problem.

He told his team to act quickly and keep water-pumping machines ready.

Different parts of the city got different amounts of rain, with one area getting the most.

City leaders said some pumps worked well, but residents said the helpers were too slow.

The group that takes care of the big roads said blocked drains make flooding worse and made new teams to fix it.

The city will need better planning and faster help so people stay safe when it rains.
