BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of disrupting Parliament fugitive debate
Two big political groups in India are having a big argument.
A man named Gaurav Bhatia, who speaks for a group called the BJP, said that another leader named Rahul Gandhi is stopping the Parliament meetings.
He said Rahul Gandhi does not want them to talk about catching criminals who ran away to other countries.
Mr. Bhatia said his group brought back 274 such criminals to India over the last several years.
He said that is about 40 criminals every year.
He also said that an older government only brought back about 40 criminals in ten whole years.
The criminals are accused of doing bad things, like hurting children, selling drugs, and other illegal activities.
Mr. Bhatia also talked about a special place called Jammu and Kashmir.
He said it is a proud day because it fully joined the country's rules seven years ago.
Rahul Gandhi and his group did not get to say their side in this article, so both groups probably see the story very differently.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Rahul Gandhi of deliberately disrupting Parliament to avoid a discussion on the return of fugitive offenders.
The BJP claimed 274 fugitives were brought back to India from 36 countries between 2019 and 2026, about 40 per year.
Bhatia said the previous Congress-led government (2004-2013) brought back only about four fugitives annually.
The BJP said nearly Rs 19,000 crore was recovered from returned fugitives, including 53 accused of sexual offences and 42 of organised crime.
Bhatia also marked the seventh anniversary of Article 370's abrogation, crediting PM Modi and Amit Shah.
