Mukul Roy’s Daughter-in-Law Missing After Nepal Border Floods

Mukul Roy’s Daughter-in-Law Missing After Nepal Border Floods

Sharmistha Bhowmik Roy went to Nepal for a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.

She traveled from Kolkata on August 21.

Her husband said he last spoke with her on the night of August 25.

Since then, her family has not been able to contact her.

A pilgrimage group from Kolkata was also reported missing near the Nepal-Tibet border.

Former DRDO chief Satheesh Reddy and his wife are in another group of 31 pilgrims who said they were safe but stranded in Tibet.

Huge floods damaged homes, bridges, roads, and other infrastructure.

Officials said an earthquake in the Tibet region may have caused a sudden release of water from a glacier.

Rescue workers are struggling to reach some places because communications and transport routes were damaged.
