Raja Muthupandi Wins Silver in 65kg Weightlifting at CWG 2026
Raja Muthupandi from India won a silver medal in the men's 65kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
He lifted a total of 286kg, which included 126kg in the snatch and 160kg in the clean and jerk.
Aznil Bidin from Malaysia won the gold medal with a Games record lift of 299kg.
Morea Baru from Papua New Guinea won the bronze medal with a total lift of 282kg.
This was Muthupandi's debut at the Commonwealth Games, and it marks India's third medal in weightlifting and fourth overall at these Games.
Muthupandi has overcome several injury and health setbacks to achieve this success.
Mirabai Chanu also won a gold medal for India in the women's 48kg event, setting a new Games record with a lift of 190kg.
