Guterres Calls BRICS Multipolarity Evidence for Security Council Reform

Antonio Guterres said the world is becoming more multipolar, meaning more countries and groups have influence.

He spoke at a BRICS summit in New Delhi.

He said important global institutions were designed after World War II and no longer fully match today’s world.

He called for changes to the United Nations Security Council and international financial institutions.

Guterres said countries should work together on finance, technology, climate change, and peace.

He warned that artificial intelligence could increase inequality if only a few companies and countries control it.

He also urged richer countries to provide promised climate funding to developing nations.

He said the world needs stronger cooperation and peace during conflicts and crises.
