Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Hit Six Tamil Nadu Districts
The Tamil Nadu weather department said that on Monday, six districts will get a lot of rain.
The rain will come with thunder, lightning and strong winds that can reach 50 kilometres per hour.
The weather is caused by a big air system that is high up in the sky, about 5.8 kilometres above the ground.
Some other parts of the state will get only moderate rain.
People in the hills and near trees are told to be careful because the storms can be dangerous.
Six districts—Nilgiris, Theni, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Coimbatore ghat areas—will receive heavy rain on Monday.
Thunderstorms with lightning and winds up to 50 km/h are expected in these districts.
An upper‑air cyclonic circulation from Karnataka to the Comorin Sea, at about 5.8 km altitude, is driving the weather.
Moderate rainfall is forecast for other parts of Tamil Nadu, including the Western Ghats, Cauvery delta, and northern coastal belt.
Authorities advise residents, especially in hilly areas, to stay cautious, avoid trees during storms, and monitor for possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
