Odisha Rice Millers End Strike
The rice millers in Odisha were on strike because they wanted more money for their work and better rates for transporting rice.
They stopped their strike after the government agreed to pay them for keeping rice safe for three months.
The millers are now helping the government buy rice from farmers.
The government is still thinking about the other things the millers asked for.
The millers decided to stop the strike because of an important festival coming up.
The government has already bought a lot of rice from farmers in many districts.
Odisha rice millers ended their indefinite strike on Thursday, January 8.
The strike was called off after the government agreed to pay for three months of custody maintenance of paddy.
The millers resumed paddy procurement from mandis in all districts.
The government is considering the millers' other demands and has a week's time to fulfill them.
