Interior Design Skills Shift Toward Sustainable, Smart Homes

Interior designers used to focus mostly on colors, furniture, fabrics, and how rooms were arranged.

Today, many homes also use smart devices, energy-saving systems, and connected technology.

This means designers need to understand both beautiful design and digital tools.

AAFT Online is offering a course to teach these skills.

Students can learn about drawing plans, placing sensors and charging points, choosing sustainable materials, and creating 3D designs.

The course also includes live projects and help with careers.

AAFT says some of its former students now work at several interior design and home-related companies.

The release presents these skills as a possible path to new career opportunities, although its claims are promotional.
